AFA Resources for Hurricane Dorian

September 6, 2019 (Updated) - On Friday, eastern North Carolina, southeast Virginia and the southern Delmarva Peninsula will take a blast from Dorian’s heavy rain, strong winds and storm surge through the morning and afternoon. Several locations along the North Carolina Outer Banks had already reported wind gusts up to 95 mph as the eyewall, the hurricane’s zone of the most severe weather surrounding its center, passed over early Friday. The storm officially made landfall over Cape Hatteras at 8:35 a.m.

Now is the time to begin thinking about what kinds of preparations you might need to make over the next couple of days. AFA EAP is always available at 800-424-2406.

Important KCM Update

August 26, 2019 — Since the announcement on Saturday that Known Crewmember (KCM) procedures would change AFA has been interfacing with TSA, industry, and the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA). We are pleased to report to you the procedure to require a uniform for access through KCM will not go into effect this Wednesday. CWA Sisters and Brothers on Strike at AT&T Southeast Over Unfair Labor Practices

(August 26, 2019) — We are on strike at AT&T Southeast! Our CWA Sisters and Brothers at AT&T Southeast, over 20,000 strong, in in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, are fighting for a fair contract that is bargained in good faith and to keep good jobs right here where we live. We stand with them and call on AFA members to find a picket line to walk in support.

TSA Issues Notice of KCM Change

(August 24, 2019) — Earlier today, TSA posted an Alert to the KCM website, changing procedures for the program. (https://www.knowncrewmember.org/alert-august-24-2019/) Unpredictable Screening Procedures will change August 27 and the requirement for crew uniforms will become effective this Wednesday, August 28th.

TAKE ACTION: Stop Toxic Fumes Onboard

(August 23, 2019) ⁠— Our workspace is the public’s travel space and in that space today, crews and passengers are breathing toxins and it has to stop.

Flight Attendant Drug and Alcohol Program (FADAP) Conference

(August 23, 2019) ⁠— The 9th Annual Flight Attendant Drug and Alcohol (FADAP) Conference was held this week at the Maritime Conference Center in Baltimore. AFA was successful in achieving government authorization for this program overseen by the FAA, while labor, management, and regulators all participate to make it work in order to promote safety and security through treatment and consistent recovery. More than 300 people attended this year with representatives from 26 airlines, including Air Canada, Alaska, Allegiant, American, British Airways, Compass, Delta, Endeavor, Envoy, Frontier, Hawaiian,  Horizon, jetBlue, Mesa, National Business Aviation Association, Omni Air, Piedmont, PSA, Quantas, Republic, SkyWest, Southwest, Spirit, Sun Country, United and WestJet.
