September 20, 2019 — AFA Vice President Debora Sutor spoke at the DISPAX Conference leading a session on Sexually Deviant Behaviour Inflight: Reaching Epidemic Proportions. Deb talked about the industry’s sexist past and how it often continues to define the atmosphere in the aircraft cabin; how today's cabin environment plays a big role in the rise of incidents on planes; and the communication issues around the reporting chain when an incident occurs in flight – and how to mitigate broken links in the chain.

What to Do During a Toxic Fume Event

September 20, 2019 — Every day, just in the U.S. alone, there is an official report of toxic oil fumes contaminating the air we breathe on regular commercial flights. Crews who breathe these fumes can develop chronic neurological problems, such as impaired speech and memory. Flight safety can be compromised when crews are impaired inflight.

September 19, 2019 — Back up your flying partners who took part in an AFA Government Affairs fly-in to Capitol Hill this week. Flight Attendants advocated on implementation of the 2018 FAA Reauthorization Bill (read: 10 hours rest now!), the Cabin Air Safety Act of 2019 (H.R. 2208 / S. 1112), and the Fair and Open Skies Act to protect our jobs from outsourcing (H.R. 3632).
