We Will Never Forget
September 13, 2025 - The 2025 Honor Guard held 9/11 Remembrances at our nation’s three national memorials and the U.S. Capitol, placing flowers and ensuring our heroes’ names were read on site. Flight Attendants also took part in other services across the country. We were joined by our union siblings from APFA, ALPA, and APA as we renewed our promise to Never Forget.
As the years pass, it’s more important than ever to remember our heroes and share with our newest flying partners the events of the day 24 years ago that changed our careers and industry forever.

Clockwise from the top left: AFA Honor Guard members Rebecca Black (PSA) and Donald Whitmore (Frontier) place flowers at the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial. The AFA Honor Guard and International Officers join our APFA and ALPA siblings at the U.S. Capitol United Flight 93 Memorial. AFA Honor Guard members Brandi Neal (United) and Tracy Pettit (Alaska-Hawaiian) place flowers at the September 11th Memorial in New York. The National Flight 93 Memorial Shanksville AFA Honor Guard Frank Taylor (United), International Vice President Keturah Johnson, and United MEC President Ken Diaz honor our heroes at the United Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, PA.
We will never forget our heroes, and we will always seek to honor their sacrifice with our actions – not only through our work for safer skies, but in the way we contribute to each of our communities at home and those that we visit around the world.
In addition to the three national memorials and the U.S. Capitol, AFA Flight Attendants represented our union in San Diego, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Ohio, Virginia, and Texas. Pete Komotos (AFA Council 8 Vice President) represented Flight Attendants at the Thursday night game in Green Bay alongside retired United pilot Jim Anderson. The Packers made sure to recognize the sacrifice of crews during this September 11th NFL game.

Whether you chose to fly in tribute to our heroes or recognized the day in some other way, we all carry the promise to Never Forget.
