Spirit Bankruptcy Filing
September 5, 2025 - On August 29th, Spirit management officially filed for a second bankruptcy.
Spirit AFA Officers, AFA International Officers, and our legal experts at AFA International are engaged to ensure we have the best representation possible to mitigate harm and protect the interests of Spirit Flight Attendants. This bankruptcy will be harder and look different than last year, but we will keep Flight Attendants closely informed and stick together as we move forward. Our union immediately retained bankruptcy counsel to secure the best standing in the court proceedings.
We anticipate management will offer additional EVTOs and other leave options. Per Section 16 of the Spirit AFA contract, management must offer voluntary furloughs before they could move forward with involuntary furloughs. We urge Spirit Flight Attendants to take an honest look at your personal situation, examine all your options, and prepare for all possible scenarios.

We are being direct because even as we have many ways to fight because of our union, we also want to get you the truth about the situation at Spirit and how each of us can take actions to protect and prepare ourselves for any challenge.
