Mesa and Republic Flight Attendants Begin Joint Collective Bargaining Negotiations
October 24, 2025 - After Mesa AFA Flight Attendants ratified their new Contract earlier this month, expedited Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement (JCBA) negotiations began this week with AFA, the Teamsters and Republic, with the goal of achieving a tentative agreement by mid-December.
For a limited time we have leverage in this merger to get the most out of it for Flight Attendants. But we must act quickly before that leverage is gone. Republic management has made clear that they want to merge Mesa and Republic operations as soon as possible, which gave us an opportunity in the JCBA process. Rarely do Flight Attendants and other workers have a chance to get improvements so quickly in a merger - and this is only possible through the solidarity between AFA and IBT. We will use this leverage in negotiations to secure necessary improvements for Mesa and Republic Flight Attendants. This will help raise standards for all Flight Attendants and especially those at regional airlines.
If we can achieve a JCBA by mid-December, we will get right back to the table in a year with the Mesa and Republic Flight Attendants together negotiating from an improved position for full Section 6 negotiations.
