Another Legal Win for Fired Federal Workers
September 19, 2025 - Last week, a federal judge ruled that the Trump Administration broke the law by firing federal workers whose jobs were critical to public safety, including workers at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) who keep our airspace safe. AFA was a plaintiff in this case, along with many of our union siblings.
The judge ruled that the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) exceeded its authority by fabricating performance issues as a pretense to firing 25,000 workers, when the only reason they were fired was because they were on probation. This is a victory for public safety and the labor movement in the face of ongoing attacks on our collective bargaining rights.
Earlier this year, a federal judge ordered that the 45,000 TSA workers’ collective bargaining agreement be reinstated after the Department of Homeland Security illegally terminated their contract months before.
An injury to one is an injury to all, and we will continue to stand in solidarity with our union siblings and fight back wherever we can.
